Build and automate your settlement in this island survival game, play solo or with friends, but it’s better with friends! Start by tilling the soil and planting your first crops, delegate tasks to your settlers. Sail to new islands, loot dungeons, and prepare your defenses for the next wave.
Calmaria: Wild Growth is an island survival game about building a settlement, automation, exploring an archipelago, and venturing into dungeons. Play solo or team up with friends in online co-op.
At first, you'll gather wood, carry water, and plant wheat by hand. That first loaf of bread takes a little work. As your settlement grows, settlers help with harvesting, supplies arrive regularly at your workshops, and you're free to focus on your next building project or prepare for an expedition. Just don't forget about defense. The creatures inhabiting the archipelago have a habit of going after your crops and buildings.
Build a mill and bakery to turn your harvests into food. Expand your workshops, mines, and forges, raise animals, set up beehives, and prepare storage for the resources you'll gather. Connect buildings into production chains that provide materials for further expansion and better equipment. And if you change your mind about your settlement's layout, you can move existing buildings and place entire lines of fences without building each section individually.
Pay attention to the soil when choosing where to plant your fields. Trees help improve fertility, wells affect moisture, and industrial pollution can reduce crop yields. Sometimes moving a workshop makes more sense than adding another field where hardly anything grows.
Over time, new people will arrive on your island. Take in shipwreck survivors, meet people during your expeditions, and rescue those trapped in dungeons. Assign settlers different professions and tasks, from planting and harvesting to production and delivering water and materials. They'll also help defend their new home.
They need food, water, and rest. Before planning another farm, make sure you have enough to feed the people who will be working there.
Not everyone has to stay behind in the settlement. You can hire one of your settlers to accompany you on expeditions, help you fight, and explore dungeons by your side. Their help costs gold, so it's worth planning your journey carefully.
A growing settlement needs a steady supply of resources. Develop your storage and transportation systems, and eventually set up automatic resource deliveries from other islands. Your own boat will come in handy for expeditions, but you won't have to transport every shipment yourself.
As you unlock new technologies, you can bring electricity to your buildings, set up diamond-powered generators, and use drones for repetitive tasks. Automation takes some of the daily work off your hands. You'll still need to manage resources, power, and the safety of everything you've built.
Build a dock, pack your supplies, and sail beyond your starting shore. The archipelago is procedurally generated. Discover beautiful beaches, islands covered in lush vegetation, small islets rich in resources, and distant lands hiding more valuable finds. Grass sways in the wind, while changing light gives the islands a different atmosphere during the day and after dark.
Not everything you find will reveal its purpose right away. Clues and items hidden across the archipelago connect to form a bigger picture. Search for forgotten treasures, uncover secrets, and find your way into locked dungeons. Some mysteries will take more than one expedition to solve.
Underground, an expanded dungeon system awaits, featuring 6 new dungeon types, 10 new puzzles and mechanisms, and 30 monsters, including bosses. Every expedition is a chance to find better equipment, discover valuable items, and put your combat skills to the test.
Not every encounter has to end in a fight. Trade with merchants, sell your goods, and get to know the people living across the archipelago. An expanded quest system, including side quests, gives you new goals and more reasons to explore. The materials, rewards, and equipment you discover will come in handy when you return to your settlement.
Between expeditions, there's time to harvest crops and expand your settlement, but your island isn't completely safe. Waves of different creatures attack your fields, fences, and buildings. Set up defensive towers, keep your ammunition stocked and your defenses repaired, prepare your settlers, and join the fight when enemies get too close. Different enemies behave in different ways, so the same strategy won't work against every wave.
You'll also need to watch your own health, hunger, and thirst. Food and water are just as important for everyday work as they are for longer expeditions. A well-run settlement gives you something to live on and something worth defending.
Gain experience, develop your character, and plan your next unlocks in the technology tree: new buildings, recipes, and upgrades. Craft your own equipment at the forge, and discover items of different rarities with randomized bonuses during battles and expeditions.
There are dozens of pieces of equipment to discover, including weapons, shields, armor, capes, and tools. Compare your finds, upgrade your gear, and choose what suits your next adventure. Better tools make everyday work easier, while the right weapons and armor help you survive encounters with stronger enemies and bosses.
Develop your own world solo or invite your Steam friends to play together in online co-op. Create your characters, share the work around your settlement, head out together to gather resources, and prepare a joint defense against the next wave. You can also uncover the archipelago's secrets, solve puzzles, and face dungeon bosses together.
